The Legacy of Central Sound Studios
Founded in 1958 on London’s iconic Denmark Street—known as “Tin Pan Alley”—Central Sound Studios quickly became a cornerstone of British music history. Originally opened by professional singer and teacher Freddie Winrose, the studio evolved from a humble demo space into one of London’s most respected recording hubs. Throughout the 1960s and ’70s, Central Sound hosted emerging artists and major acts alike, helping to launch multiple Top 10 hits including “I Can’t Let Maggie Go” by Honeybus and “Hello, How Are You?” by The Easybeats.
